At the Rosemère Town Council meeting on February 13, Melissa Monk, councillor for seat 5, announced she would be stepping down from her role in the coming days.

“It is with mixed emotions that I make this announcement,” said Monk. “I have lived in Rosemère all my life. I will miss its undeniable charms, its way of life and its people. My move to Ontario is the result of a new relationship and the opportunity to live on a big property in an agricultural area. I would like to thank my fellow Rosemerites for their support over the past five years and the mayor, councillors, administration and staff, all of whom are fantastic and who have made my time on Town Council a wonderful experience.”

During her second term, Monk has served on the board of the Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville (RIPTB) and the MRC Thérèse-De Blainville. 

“I would like to thank Ms. Monk for everything she has done over the years. She has been a tremendous source of support and expertise, especially at budget time. I wish her the very best in her new life in Ontario,” said Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram. 

Monk has been a sitting councillor since the municipal elections of November 2017. A by-election will be called to fill her vacated seat.
