The MRC will hold a Public Consultation on September 25

The Town of Rosemère wishes to inform its citizens of a public consultation organized by the Thérèse-De Blainville MRC, in accordance with its responsibilities for regional land use planning, in connection with the request made last April to change the use of zones C-03, C-139 and C-140 located in the regional commercial hub (Place Rosemère sector). A public consultation meeting will be held on September 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the MRC offices located at 201, boulevard du Curé-Labelle, Suite 304, Sainte-Thérèse.

This sector, which mainly includes Place Rosemère, is targeted by the Town for residential and commercial development. However, since the Land Use and Development Plan of the MRC does not allow residential development, this change must first be made.

The purpose of this public consultation held by the MRC is therefore to communicate information and obtain comments from MRC citizens, in order to ascertain their opinion on the proposal for a mixed commercial and residential use in this sector. Citizens wishing to take part should contact the MRC for information on how to participate, by visiting their website at mrc-tdb.org or by calling 450 621-5546.

A Land Use and Development Plan is a planning document that defines the major development orientations of the MRC territory, specifying among other things the vocations to be favored.

Two Stages of Consultation Before Any Changes

Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram sums up the consultation process as follows: “As a citizen of the MRC, we must first ask ourselves whether we agree that this space could eventually be used for housing, while ensuring the greening of this imposing heat island. If this change of use is adopted by the MRC following the consultations it will have carried out, the Town will then hold consultations with Rosemère residents before proceeding with any changes to its own urban planning bylaws.”

It should be noted that the Town is currently carrying out various studies of its own, in order to obtain all the information needed to ensure that the infrastructures are capable of hosting such projects.
