Rosemère Unveils Skatepark Urban Art Project

Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram and the Town’s Community Services Department are pleased to announce that the urban art project at Place des jeunes, located at 418 Grande-Côte Road, is now complete. The revamped skatepark features a uniquely vibrant, multicoloured design that beautifully enhances the surrounding space and is sure to be a hit with skateboarders, push scooter riders and BMX bikers alike.

This urban art initiative falls under a cultural development agreement between the Town of Rosemère and the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications. The Town surveyed skatepark users and residents[SS1] through digital platforms and in person, asking them to pick between two proposed designs to ensure the project was something that would appeal to the park’s many users. The choice was made based on their feedback. The artists and muralists with the Funky Art Cartel then put their talent to work. The entire community is now invited to rediscover this family-friendly space in the heart of the town.

“We’re really happy to be bringing joy and energy to the skatepark. We could see that Rosemère has a clear vision for its young people, and the site itself was already very attractive,” said the artists. “This is our first project in the town. Through our naïve art* approach, we hope to make art more accessible, make the world more colourful and be a source of inspiration.”

“The skatepark is a very popular place for our young people,” said Mayor Eric Westram. “Our goal is to give the site a fresh new look but still make sure it complements its surroundings. We are very pleased with the result, and we once again thank the artists for something that is so original. I encourage Rosemerites of all ages to come enjoy the skatepark and other recreational facilities at Place des jeunes.”
