Rosemère's Food Drive: A Huge Success Thanks to the Community’s Solidarity
Rosemère's Food Drive, an annual fund-raising and food distribution event for families in need, was a huge success on Saturday, November 30. Thanks to the involvement of over 260 volunteers and Rosemerites' generosity, the event made it possible to raise an unprecedented $36,985 and collect 220 boxes of non-perishable food items. Of this amount, the Corporation de développement culturel et sportif de Rosemère generously donated $5,000. Members of the Jeunesse Action Rosemère organization also contributed to the collective effort, in addition to providing lunch for all volunteers.
"Once again this year, Rosemerites' solidarity was outstanding and we're extremely proud. The success of the Food Drive is a true testament to the generosity and spirit of solidarity that fuels our community. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative, including my colleagues on Town Council. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of many families in need. My whole-hearted thanks to you all!" stated Mayor Eric Westram.
As it may be recalled, the groceries collected during the Food Drive enable the Saint-Luc parish's Service d'aide alimentaire Saint-Maurice to prepare Christmas baskets, while cash donations are given to the Entraide Rosemère organization to buy food vouchers. All proceeds from the Food Drive are distributed to needy families in the region.
Anyone wanting to make a cash donation may do so at the reception desk in Town Hall or at the H.-J.-Hemens public library, or by contacting Entraide Rosemère by email at entraiderosemere@gmail.com. And anyone wanting to contribute non-perishable food items may drop them off at one of the following locations between now and December 19:
- Town Hall, 100 Charbonneau Street
- H.-J-.Hemens public library, 339 Grande-Côte Road
- Memorial Community Centre, 202 Grande-Côte Road
- Recreation Department, 325 Grande-Côte Road
