Reconstruction work on Île Bélair bridge begins on June 25

Road obstructions to be expected and navigation management under the bridge

The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable would like to inform the public of the start of reconstruction work on the Île Bélair bridge, which crosses the Mille-Îles river in the axis of route 117 (Labelle Boulevard) in Rosemère. The work will take place from June 25 to late fall, 2024.

The new Île Bélair bridge will feature two traffic lanes in each direction, as well as a multi-use path to be added on the east side, to provide users with a safe active transportation link.

Traffic management

The work will be carried out mainly during the day, and will entail partial lane closures for the duration of the work. Depending on the progress and phases of the work, the following traffic obstructions will be required:

- Closure of one lane of Route 117 (Labelle boulevard)

- Closure of one direction of Route 117 (Labelle boulevard), with detour of opposing traffic

- Dynamic peak-period management (2 lanes in one direction, one lane in the other)

- Alternating traffic on one lane of Route 117 (Labelle boulevard), depending on rush hour, using traffic controllers

- Closure of one lane on Thorncliffe Street, at the intersection with northbound Route 117

- Closure of the pedestrian bridge: pedestrians will be able to use the sidewalk on the east side of the bridge.

Please note that the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h in the construction zone. In addition, the 5-tons load restriction on the bridge for all vehicles remains in force: vehicles must continue to take a marked detour via Autoroute 15 (des Laurentides).

Navigation management on Rivière des Mille Îles

The waterway on the Mille Îles river will be closed under the Île Bélair bridge until completion of the work in late fall. Beacons and signage announcing the channel closure will be installed to advise users. Marine traffic will, however, be permitted under the Marius-Dufresne bridge, south of the Île Bélair bridge.

Thank you for your cooperation

For the safety of road users and workers, it is essential to respect the signage in place
