Announcement of the winners of the "Draw a pennant" contest

Further to the "Draw a pennant” contest open to the Town’s citizens, Rosemère has now unveiled the sixteen winning works of art. In addition to receiving a $100 gift certificate for every drawing selected, the artists will see their works reproduced on the pennants that will adorn Grande-Côte Road as well as certain municipal properties throughout 2015.

"Among the winners, we find citizens in every age group. Some have even seen more than one of their works selected by the jury,” noted Mayor Madeleine Leduc, who was visibly satisfied with the results of this competition. Winners, along with the number of their drawings selected, are: Christine Alex (1); Lyvia Di Vincenzo (2); Geneviève Fairfield (4); Thomas Fréchette (1); Charles Gauthier (2); Jasmine Mirra Turcotte (1); Frédéric Turcotte (1); Marie-Rose Turcotte (2); Tommy Turcotte (1); et William Turcotte (1).

"I congratulate you most heartily and assure you that you can be proud of your achievements,” stated Mayor Leduc, convinced that the talent of these Rosemerites will further enhance the heart of downtown Rosemère.

Announced last June, the "Draw a pennant” contest was created to establish a bank of works representing the four seasons in Rosemère. The jury, who had the difficult task of selecting the winning entries, consisted of municipal councillors Kateri Lesage and Normand Corriveau, along with Michel Girouard, the Town’s Director of Communications. Since 2007, the pennants on which the drawings will be reproduced, have replaced the traditional hanging flower baskets whose maintenance required considerable watering and the use of vehicles, both of which ran counter to the Town’s ecological philosophy. Moreover, the pennants adorn the Town year-round. In fact, in 2014, Rosemère was awarded a special mention from the national Communities in Bloom competition for this environmental initiative.

"Once again, Rosemère has come up with a project that involves its residents and upholds their sense of belonging,” concluded Mayor Madeleine Leduc, a sentiment shared by members of the jury.
