Rosemère in Arts

The first edition of a revamped event

Rosemère, Monday, May 15, 2017 – In the presence of the president of the Rosemère Artists Gathering (RAG), mayor Madeleine Leduc announced that the first edition of "Rosemère in Arts” will be held on June 3 and 4, on the lawns of the Recreation Department and Sainte-Françoise-Cabrini Church. This first edition will unfold under the honorary chairmanship of Rosemère resident Gaétan Boucher, Olympic medallist in speed skating.

Formerly known as the "Painting Symposium”, this event has been adapted to current tastes by the Rosemère Artists Gathering, which has taken full charge of it. Last fall, mayor Madeleine Leduc announced, with great pleasure, that the Town of Rosemère would be supporting this event with a $4,000 contribution as well as the loan of material and staff for its technical facet.

The mayor is delighted with this initiative of the Rosemère Artists Gathering, as it is entirely consistent with the range of cultural and artistic activities offered to its residents: "Culture is part of our identity. It is coloured by our territory’s country charm, which has inspired artists and artisans to settle here, as well as the vitality of our cultural organizations and their volunteers who showcase it in various forms reflecting the different needs and interests of citizens. I invite all Rosemère residents to take part in this rallying activity, which will allow them to appreciate the fullness of our Town’s cultural riches,” exclaimed Madeleine Leduc.

This artistic event will bring together more than 70 artists from the area, including some 20 or so from Rosemère. For this new edition, RAG president Caroline Foley promises participants new elements. "Visitors will be invited to take part in two new interactive family activities that you won’t want to miss: Painting on silhouettes with our artists and The Tiny Gallery.” she stated. Throughout the weekend, visitors will get to admire a variety of works meeting visual art aficionados’ full range of tastes. "Rosemère in Arts” will be held Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information on the schedule and exhibitors, go to: www.leregroupementdesartistesderosemere.com.
