MRC council opts for continuity: Eric Westram and Julie Boivin Reappointed MRC Wardens

Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram has been reappointed for another 2-year term of office as warden of the MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville (regional county municipality) and delegate to the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal. He was first appointed to this dual role in November 2021. He will also represent the MRC on the Conseil des préfets et élus de la région des Laurentides (CPÉRL), the Table des préfets et élus de la Couronne Nord (TPÉCN) and government bodies. This renewed term of office received the support of the other mayors on the MRC council. The warden is an ex-officio member of all MRC committees and tables.

At the same time, Julie Boivin, Mayor of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, was also recently reappointed for another 2-year term of office as acting warden of the MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville. She will represent the MRC on the TPÉCN, the rural metropolitan municipalities and the CMM's Comité consultatif agricole (CCA). She is also a member of the UMQ's Board of Directors and training committee. Mrs. Boivin chairs the MRC's CCA and is a member of various MRC committees and tables. This renewed term of office received the support of the other mayors on the MRC council.

"We will be able to successfully tackle the issues and acrry out the projects that are fundamental to our future. The role of the acting warden of an MRC is, firstly, to replace the warden in case of absence and, secondly, to support him or her in order to efficiently and effectively handle issues and projects on behalf of the community," pointed out Julie Boivin.

As warden of the MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville, and together with my counterparts, Mr. Westram will be the spokesperson for the constituent municipalities and the promoter of major regional issues, notably in the fields of land use planning, economic, social and cultural development, regional transportation, the environment and the fair distribution of government resources. "We therefore face major challenges in the coming months and years. The growth of our MRC and the political and economic stakes involved urge us to take our place and preserve the collective choices we have made and will continue to make," added Eric Westram in his final remarks.

In addition to Eric Westram and Julie Boivin, the MRC council includes Liza Poulin, Mayor of Blainville; Gilles Blanchette, Mayor of Bois-des-Filion; Jean Comtois, Mayor of Lorraine; Christine Beaudette, Mayor of Boisbriand, and Christian Charron, Mayor of Sainte-Thérèse.
