Investment: revitalization of McCaig School playground

ROSEMÈRE, Monday, June 19, 2017 – Today, the Town of Rosemère handed a $40,000 cheque to the Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier School Board for the revitalization of its playground adjacent to the McCaig Elementary School. This grant will serve primarily to renew the play module’s swings, with work to be carried out this summer.

This initiative is consistent with the Town of Rosemère’s family and seniors policy or, more specifically, with its plan of action, which calls for the pursuit of a five-year park development program, i.e. an ongoing improvement project that targets two to three parks a year. The Town has some twenty or so parks on its territory.

"We are delighted to donate this amount to the Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier School Board, further to its application for a grant allowing the installation of new swings at the McCaig School playground. These new facilities will enhance our service offering in terms of access to parks, and we invite our citizens to make use of them as soon as they are ready this summer. This grant also demonstrates our interest in maintaining a sustainable partnership with the Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier School Board, with which we have concluded service agreements for the use of gymnasiums and invested, three years ago, in the installation of an artificial turf football-soccer field at Rosemère High School," stated Madeleine Leduc, mayor of Rosemère.

For her part, Jennifer Maccarone, Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier School Board, expressed gratitude to the Town of Rosemère for rallying behind this school playground project, adding: "The development of play areas by the school is essential to the well-being of our students and we are proud of offering them a safe environment meeting today’s standards. The Town’s contribution will be used for the installation of two swings as well as refurbishment to the existing playground. As of the new school year, our students will get to enjoy their new facilities."

Every day, Rosemère works to improve the quality of life of its residents and foster their healthy lifestyle. This translates, among other things, in the quality and diversity of its sports and recreational activities, free as well as organized, to meet the needs of all age groups and every taste.
