Compostable organic waste

Shift to organic in a flash

The Town of Rosemère wants to make it easier for you to collect your organic waste, which is why it established the www.vieecolo.com microsite. Highly visual, this site provides, at a glance, the steps involved in preparing for the pick-up, the organic waste that is accepted or refused in the brown bin, as well as tips and tricks for such things as avoiding odours.

The organic waste you deposit in your brown bin, including food residue and green waste, will be converted into compost by specialized firms in the field of composting and the reuse of organic waste.

The Town collects organic waste every two weeks, from January to April and weekly, from May to November. The bins are equipped with a locking system, which will prevent small animals from opening them. We remind you that it is important to unlock the latch on collection day.

Here are some tips to help you avoid odours and pets:

- Have your brown bin emptied at each collection, even if it is not full, by placing it at the curb.
- Properly wrap wet food scraps, meat and bones in a paper bag or newspaper.
- Place a paper bag in your bin or line the bottom with newspaper.
- Place your bin in the shade, especially in the summer.
- When it is empty, rinse it occasionally with water and vinegar or baking soda.

For any technical questions regarding collection operations, or if you need a bin for household waste, recyclable materials or organics waste, contact Public Works at 450 621-3500, ext. 3300 or by e-mail at travauxpublics@ville.rosemere.qc.ca.

CONTAINERS ALLOWED FOR Pick-ups (trees, branches, large items, etc.)

Since spring 2019, only paper bags, brown bags or any garbage bin * on which you have affixed the Town’s sticker (marked with a V) (available free of charge from Public Works) will be picked up.

* Bins designed for other pick-up types, such as blue and black bins, are not accepted.

Thank you for helping us preserve your environment!
