Communities in Bloom 2024 competition - Rosemère takes top honors in 2 categories!

The Town of Rosemère once again distinguished itself at this year's Communities in Bloom awards ceremony, held on October 20 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. At this 30th edition of the national and international awards ceremonies, the Town received the Outstanding Achievement Award Community of Gardeners, a distinction in the International Challenge - Medium-Sized Communities category of 5 Blooms - Gold, in addition to a special mention for its Community Engagement Program to save the Monarch butterfly.

Outstanding Achievement Award Community of Gardeners

This title was awarded for the exceptional site that is the Hamilton House’s garden. Over the years, this site has been carefully landscaped and revitalized thanks to the collaborative work of a committee of residents, volunteers and staff dedicated to the beauty of our spaces.

Its guitar-shaped layout is a reminder of the site's cultural vocation. This magnificent community garden will continue to evolve with the artistic and horticultural projects of its community.

The award also highlights community beautification initiatives through the Rosemère in Bloom competition, which has been running for 35 years. It also recognizes the Secret Garden Tour, where residents welcome the public to their beautiful private gardens for a day, and the community gardens located on the grounds of two schools: Externat Sacré-Cœur and Val-des-Ormes.

International Challenge - Medium-sized communities

This award gives us a 5-Blooms Gold rating, as well as a special mention for our Community Engagement Program to save the Monarch butterfly. The Rosemère community is actively involved in this initiative, creating habitats favorable to these butterflies.

« We are honored to be a finalist alongside such fine Canadian and European cities. Winning in this category is a great reward for the Town of Rosemère, which has been participating in Communities in Bloom since its very first edition, 30 years ago. This honor would never have been possible without Monique Keurentjes, foreman of green spaces and environment, who has made Rosemère a town that shines both provincially and internationally for its landscaping and management of natural spaces. She will be leaving us at the end of the year for a well-deserved retirement. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Monique, for 35 years of passion and commitment, and for making Rosemère as green and flourishing as it is today », declares Mayor Eric Westram.
