Mayor’s Blood Donor Clinic: A short hour to save lives!

Fall is fast upon us, and there is no shortage of things to do. But why not add giving blood to your list? "It takes just one short hour to demonstrate, in a concrete manner, your support for those who need it,” explains Rosemère Mayor Madeleine Leduc, who invites everyone in the region to the blood donor drive to be held Friday, September 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the central court of Place Rosemère, 401 Labelle Blvd. (donor’s entrance: door No. 1).

Confident of meeting the goal of 140 donors, Mrs. Leduc reminds us that blood is unique and irreplaceable. "This is one resource for which modern science has yet to find an artificial substitute, and its availability depends on the generosity of donors,” she states.

"Join the ranks of those wishing to share this great wealth that runs through our veins,” adds Fanny Bellemare-Martin, consultant on the organization of Hema-Québec blood drives. She reminds us that thousands of patients — children and adults — need this gift of blood to restore their health. Yet only 3% of Quebecers eligible to donate blood actually do so. This is an opportunity to help change this statistic.

Proud partner in several blood drives annually, Place Rosemère is pleased to help save lives in this manner. "It’s a way for us to give back to the community that supports us,” notes Isabelle Lamarche, Marketing Director. In fact, both Madeleine Leduc and Fanny Bellemare-Martin noted Place Rosemère’s role as an exemplary corporate citizen in thanking it for the key role it plays in its clinics.

Who can give?
Any person who is in good health and at least 18 years of age can donate blood. There is no maximum age limit. To verify your eligibility beforehand, you can contact Héma-Québec at 1 800 847-2525 or go to its website at www.hema-quebec.qc.ca, under Blood (Who can donate blood?).
