Authorization certificate for work on riverbanks, littoral zones and flood plaints (waterfront environment)

All structures, works, development projects, as well as all modifications or repairs to any type of structure or work on a riverbank or littoral zone are prohibited without an authorization certificate.

All structures or works that are likely to destroy or alter riverbank vegetation, expose the soil, affect its stability, or encroach on the littoral zone, are prohibited without a an authorization certificate. Any structures or works likely to alter the water regime, hinder the free flow of water during flood periods, disturb wildlife and plant habitats, imperil the safety of persons or property, or are located in a floodplain, are prohibited without an authorization certificate.

How to obtain an authorization certificate for work in a waterfront environment

To obtain an authorization certificate for work in a waterfront environment, take note of current municipal by-laws and provide all required documents, including the fee for payment of the authorization certificate, then submit the entire file to the Urban Planning, Permits and Inspections Department (see "Permit application - Documents required" and "Underground water catchment form" in Downloads at the left of the page).
