Québec Sports and Physical Activity Day in Rosemère

2017 Québec Sports and Physical Activity Day
May 4, Rosemère invites you to "pedal your smoothie”

Rosemère, April 26, 2017 – Within the framework of Québec Sports and Physical Activity Day (QSPAD), on May 4, the Town of Rosemère is inviting residents to get moving and eat healthy with an unusual "Pedal your smoothie” event. This activity will unfold at different locations throughout the day, in order to attract the largest number of participants. From 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., bicycles will be set up at the Town Hall, before being transferred to the Hubert-Maisonneuve School for the students. In the afternoon, they will be installed at the municipal library and the Metro Supermarket respectively, from 2 to 5 p.m.

The "smoothie bike” is a novel and unusual awareness-raising tool promoting a healthy lifestyle. The two "smoothie bikes” installed in Rosemère for the day will attract the curiosity of passersby, as well as incite young and old alike to take part in the event. Participants need only pedal a few times to activate the mixer attached to the bike and produce a fresh and nutritious smoothie made from supplied foods.

As of 7 p.m., the Town is also organizing a family walk along the 3 km route taken by participants in its "Rosemère en santé” foot race. The walk starts out across from Alpha School. At that time, walkers will also have the opportunity of concocting a smoothie they can enjoy along the way. In addition, Cardio Plein-Air will be on hand to present "Family Cardio FIT” before the walk. This rallying activity will bring the theme day to a most pleasant close.

"Moving every day helps us stay in shape and keep our minds sharper longer. To mark Québec Sports and Physical Activity Day, we are offering our residents opportunities to move by taking part in two very different activities. One ismore unusual and the other more traditional, but both combine fun with healthy living habits,” stated mayor Madeleine Leduc who added: "May 4th in Rosemère: it’s a date!” This innovative "smoothie bike” initiative has been rendered possible thanks to the participation of the event’s partners, Kino-Québec, Loisirs Laurentides, and Rosemère en santé.

Established by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur, Québec Sports and Physical Activity Day (QSPAD) allows people of all ages to discover or rediscover the pleasures of moving, doing sports and practicing physical activities of all types in a variety of venues.

May 4th in Rosemère: it’s a date for a delicious smoothie in exchange for a bit of pedalling.
