Rosemère Painting Symposium: A highly colourful 8th edition

The lawns of the Recreation Department and Sainte-Françoise-Cabrini Church will provide the highly colourful venue for the 8th edition of the Rosemère Painting Symposium slated for Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Held at 325 Grande-Côte, this event is presented by the Town in close collaboration with the Rosemère Artists Gathering (RAG), which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Rain or shine, visitors will get to admire, absolutely free of charge, the works of some 70 artists, including fifteen or so Rosemerites, often plying their art live. Visitors so wishing will also have the opportunity of participating in a Chinese auction — a novel way of obtaining a painting — as well as in a treasure hunt with its own share of rewards.

While you take in the event, your youngsters will be taken under our wing in the Place des enfants” tent where they will be introduced to the art of watercolour and oil painting.

In early afternoon, on both days of the event, a different musical group will be contributing to the festive ambience. Saturday, No Son Cubanos will be on site at 1 p.m. while Sunday, Singin’ Rendez-vous will be entertaining as of 12:30 p.m.

Furthermore, to mark, in a tangible manner, the 20th anniversary of the RAG, a collective work consisting of two montages of 17 small paintings will be unveiled at 5 p.m. Saturday. A creation by more than thirty members of the Gathering, this work represents the many faces of Rosemère.

"There’ll be much here of interest to people from the entire region,” promise   mayor Madeleine Leduc and members of the organizing committee, Caroline De Repentigny, Doris Roy, Lise Boilard, of the RAG, along with Christiane Poirier and Mathieu Voyer, from the Town’s Recreation Department.
